Errors in the Audio Book-lists...

I found some errors in the Audio Book lists after I had listed them here. Some of the titles are apparently not read by Suchet. I will check up on them of course when I get the time and correct it. In common you shouldn't count 100 % on the book-lists, there are probably some titles and/or editions missing. I haven't had any official list to go by, I have just mentioned whatever I could find out there from various sources (and some of them were apparently wrong).

The lists have been checked and updated during October 2007

More lists, an article and an auction...

Now the Audio Book-lists are up... This time in alphabetical order and not, like the first choice I made, by latest published title, which really made a mess on the order of titles. Don’t bite me if there are errors, there were a lot of numbers to manage and my patience was set on trial since I had to do a lot of alterations and corrections starting out with putting up both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 (old and new standards). I ended up with keeping just one standard at each edition which should be enough to find the right one.  And then the formatting went totally crazy, I had to alter every fifth number and tenth letter because the system constantly changed the size of the types. The formatting in there sometimes works so bad with my Word-scripts that I have to alter it on the spot, no need to tell that can be very annoying and time-steeling... Anyway, the lists are up now.

And then you’re in for an old, cuddly and cute one…  I’m referring to an old

article (December 2006) and a cuddly Panda… and a cute Suchet... or maybe it's the other way around, a cute Panda and a cuddly Suchet... well, that's up to you... Save the Panda!

There is also a private auction right now on e-Bay with genuine items (a silk rug, Wedgwood porcelain, a vase...) allegedly having belonged to Suchet. I asked the seller, she says she is his Goddaughter and will give the purchaser a letter of provenance with each sold item, on request.

Take a look at the ad from the seller. I have lost my heart to the Lalique ducks... and I wouldn't mind having that bust on my working-desk, either! Actually, it's very nice and rare things in there. The Moustache cup is really funny, quite a scoop for a Poirot-fan. Keep an eye on the auction, the items currently not running will be coming up soon.

Thanks to Anthony for having informed me about the auction.

NB! The auction ran out a couple of weeks ago - October 2007

Backstage door photo...

Gabor from Hungary watched The Last Confession on closing night and met Suchet at the backstage door afterwards and had a close-up photo taken! He is actually standing next to Suchet, he’s just “cut out” of the picture. He  kindly offered that I could put it up on the site - thanks for sharing, Gabor! And great you got the chance to watch Suchet on stage! Suchet on closing night

And the lists of Audio Books are up...

Okay - something went wrong with the lists, the order of the titles was a mess so I have to change that. They will be up during the weekend, though...

Support a good cause…

Among other known artists and personalities Suchet supports Dorset Wildlife Trust in its efforts to raise money for the protection of the county's wildlife, by donating a self-made paint/drawing to be auctioned on E-bay.

The auction will start this Sunday 16th and run till December 13th - so keep an eye on E-bay...

Suchet supports yet another fundraising project and has become Patron of Wilton’s Music Hall, the world’s oldest and last grand entertainment hall, situated in east London near Tower of London. It got its name in 1850 but started out four years previous to that with saloon theatre entertainments. Due to new safety regulations in 1878 it had to close two years later and was taken over by a local mission. In 1963 it was nearly demolished but saved by British Music Hall Society who convinced the council to save the hall as a building of public interest because of its historical and architectural importance.

The theatre company Broomhill Opera took over the place in 1999 - at that time it had no heating or water and parts of the roof were missing. Volunteers and contributors helped with some repairing and free materials and Broomhill now has a temporary license to keep events 16 weeks a year - but Wilton's desperately needs financial support for further repair and restoration; only 40 % of the space is safe and in use. Suchet has agreed to support the fundraising campaign and to help raising the hall’s profile.

Good Luck to Suchet and Wilton’s Music Hall in their efforts to save a most interesting place and unique building!

Bricksite will be updating their pages Friday 31st from 6pm to Saturday morning. During that time you might experience access-problems. According to Bricksite it will happen two times and only a couple of minutes each time... - but I have my doubts on that, so expect it to take more than just a few minutes...

About the Guestbook...

Yesterday I shut down the Guestbook. Apart from Sue’s sweet message in there one month ago, it has been totally silent, and people apparently don't want to use it. There is no point in having an empty Guestbook, so I decided to “kill” it...  But then someone sent a greeting via my message-box today and I decided to open it again - for a while...  to see if you have second thoughts... I would love to see "the book" filled up with wonderful and nice greetings to the site or to me... or to David Suchet...

Having said that, about greetings to David Suchet that is, I have to point out that David Suchet is not affiliated to the site in any way, although I would have loved him to - so I can’t promise you or predict if he will ever see any greetings from you. And even if he does, please don’t expect him to react upon them. I do know that he is aware of the site because I’ve told him about it in a letter I sent to him - that is by the way how I got the photo with my name on in the first place (the one in the Gallery on the front-page)...  because I asked for one... - and Suchet was so kind and generous to fulfil that wish... -  but that’s all. Don't expect him to look in here, I sincerely doubt that he has the time for it nor the interest... So, don’t have high hopes, only leave a greeting in the Guestbook for your own entertainment and for other fellower Suchet-fans to read and enjoy  (including me) - but please don’t expect David Suchet to read it.

So, let's give the Guestbook a second try...

Another issue... A couple of times I've got requests from some of you in my message-box on issues concerning David Suchet that indicates, that you might think I forward messages to him - I don't and I can't. In stead I suggest that you write to him yourself. You'll find some links on where to find a valid address on the Links-site.

An introduction...

Some of you must have stumbled upon Diana’s name a couple of times in here by now…

So, let me introduce you to Diana! She is my dear Poirot-friend in Germany. We “met” at the Imdb message-board earlier this year, discussing some of David Suchet’s films, and have been “speaking” together since, by e-mails. I very quickly became aware of Diana’s kindness, she is a very special person, creative and generous and has provided me with several pictures, as you might have noticed. I value her friendship and contributions to the site very much -  Merci, mon ami!

Finally... some reliable release info on Flood, it seems. The film will be showing from Friday 24th in Apollo Cinema on Regent Street in London's West End near Piccadilly Circus. You'll find the time schedule on Apollo’s website www.apollocinemas.co.uk

About having problems with access to the site...

Apparently the site was totally down the 22nd a couple of hours late at night, at least I couldn’t get access at all - so it’s not only you who might have felt a bit annoyance if not being able to visit the sites. I’ve asked the host, Bricksite, if my updating disturbs the access, something I believed it to do earlier; they told me No, it shouldn't disturb anything... My guess is, though, that a page could be inaccessible or slow if you visit it the same time I'm mending it, but it doesn't have influence on the whole site.

So you should be able to see the site even when I’m “nursing” the pages... I’ve experienced these two hours “intermissions” a couple of times by now, and I’ve come to that conclusion that it occurs when Bricksite is updating their pages. So now you know and can take actions on that next time you have problems in accessing the site. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but I really have no influence on that.

Suchet's upcoming projects...

According to the Simon Mayo audio interview with David Suchet on the 14th of August Suchet's upcoming projects are to start with the shooting of two more episodes of Poirot - the first, Mrs. McGinty's Dead, in October. Which to come after that is still uncertain. Thereafter Suchet hopes to go to New York in February to make a film adaptation of the play "Man and Boy", a play he did in West End two years ago. Whether that's going to happen depends on the possibilities of raising the money for it. After that two more episodes of Poirot are on the run - and then ten more to go in the future, a total of 14 episodes - according to Suchet himself. See the link-page or go directly to the interview

14th of August 2007

Don't take my word for it... yet. But apparently my first impression of "Flood" being released on DVD was correct. There has been some confusing announcements in the media about the release, so someone from the Imdb message board contacted Lionsgate to get an answer - and according to that we are talking about a release on DVD the 24th of August... Well, let's just be patient and see what it's going to be. I won't say another word about the film release until I see the DVD "on the street"... or announced on Lionsgate's sites...

12th of August 2007

The stage-list is up. Well, as up as it can be right now… I would have liked it to be filled with reviews, pictures, comments, details, a synopsis for every play etc. - and it will be, successively. I just thought it would be better to put on the site what I have ready now, in stead of waiting until it was completely done with pictures and everything - in that case you would have had to wait for ages. It takes a lot of time and research doing these things; that goes for the filmography, tv-list etc. as well. So be patient... very patient...

2nd of August 2007

Yes, I know... The site was down... No, it wasn't me updating... Bricksite, the host, was apparently down for a couple of hours. They must have had technical problems. These things happen, you know. So I stand corrected; if you do experience problems in accessing the site, it might be because I'm updating the pages - or Bricksite is updating their system... or it might just be force majeure...

2nd of August 2007

If you experience lack of access to the site now and then, it might be because I'm updating the pages. I try to do it as quickly as possible and at convenient hours, but it's not always possible to schedule. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but don't give up, come back later and try again, please.

1st of August 2007

Sorry folks, my mistake... I first wrote "Flood" would be released on DVD (that is corrected) - apparently it's in theatres, since Variety is talking about "a theatrical release" in London's West End

So keep an eye on the distributors site, hopefully they will soon tell the exact release date

Upcoming film release in UK...

A raging storm, seasonal high water, an immense surge - and The London Thames Barrier, "the largest tidal defence in the world", can't hold it back. That's the scenario in "Flood" from 2006, a British produced film directed by Tony Mitchell. It sounds like one of those dramas, where an expected catastrophe slowly builds up and climax reaches one of its highest levels when the city of London is submerged by a huge tidal wave and people desperately are trying to save themselves and each other...

The trailer looks interesting, impressive pictures (computerized it seems), impressive music. I'm definitely going to watch the film if and when it's released in DK, mainly because Suchet is in it (as the Deputy Prime Minister)... - but it's also a frightening, yet thrilling subject; what if...

The film is supposed to be released in UK in August...
