Suchet in Pratchett's Going Postal...

According to TV Scoop SkyOne has commissioned a tv adoptation of one of Terry Pratchett’s popular Discworld children fantasy novels, Going Postal, with Suchet as Reacher Gilt, the ruthless chairman of the communication monopoly, Grand Trunk Clacks, in the city of Ankh-Morpork (aka Budapest).

Suchet is joined by Richard Coyle as arch-swindler Moist Von Lipwig, Claire Foy as Adora Belle Dearheart, Charles Dance as Lord Vetinari, Steve Pemberton as Drumknott, Andrew Sachs as Groat and Tamsin Greig as Miss Crisplock.

The story:
Con-man Moist Von Lipwig is sentenced to death for his crimes but is saved in the last minute by Lord Vetinari, who wants him to become Postmaster in the city of Ankh-Morpork. It turns out that the post office is almost abandoned and malfunctioned with decades of undelivered mail. When Moist tries to restore the postal service he finds he is up against shadowy characters who rather want to see him dead than to see the post office running efficiently.

It’s the third Discworld novel produced for SkyOne and it will come as a two-parter, each episode one and a half hour long. Richard Kurti and Bev Doyle has adapted the story and Jon Jones is directing.

The tv series will broadcast next year in UK around Easter. According to Digital Spy the production has already started.

Seems we're in for a treat with a Suchet dressed up as an ex-pirate with one eye and a cockatoo on his shoulder...
