Raw Material Suppliers

Wind turbines manufacturers and raw material suppliers alike are primarily large companies with a global footprint.

On material supplies New Composites work exclusively with well-established companies with a strong reputation, track record and with the ability to apply their services globally in order to achieve sourcing synergies across New Composites SBUs.

The preferred suppliers all have a broad standard product portfolio and they are each capable of modifying as per New Composites specification towards the desired mechanical properties.

Polyester Resins

One of the major components in fibre reinforced plastics is polyester resin. Resin is a three component material made up of 95% polyester, 2-3% curing material and 2,5-3,5% color paste. The materials structural strength combined with the suppliers ability to deliver well-documented constant uniform quality with local presence is crucial for an effective and reliable composite production.
Reichhold, Ashland and DSM all hold positions as global market leaders of polyester resins.

Glass Fabrics

Glass fabrics are the other major component in Fibre Reinforced Plastics. Glass fabrics is applied to ensure structural strength to the manufactured composite part.

Saertex and Ahlstrom both hold industry leading global positions within development and supply of glass fabrics optimized for automated composite production setups.

Structural Foam

Structural foam is applied in fibre reinforced plastics to make sandwich core contructions. The sandwich core construction increases shape stability and strenght across large surfaces. Furthermore, foam is used as reinforcement for critical anchorage and connection points.

Airex and Diab are preferred suppliers due to their global market leader positions as suppliers of  high quality structural foam in a range of materials; PVC, PUR and balsa.
