My name is Tina Engkær Martin, I'm 20 years old, I live in a little appartment in Sønderborg and have to jobs - bartender and stock assistant. For 20 years I've been living in a little town, Nordborg, 25 km from Sønderborg.
After having finished my elementary school, I took my senior-highschool exam. The education took three years, and I was stduying languages. I have studied English, Danish and history for 3 years at A-level + math for 3 years ending with a B-level. For two years I studies German and French. For 1 year I studied Latin, Art and Psychology. After having graduated in the summer of 2007, I started at my further education - AP Program in Fashion Design Technology at the Trade Academy of Southern Denmark. The program is international, and my class is a mix of Danish, German and Chineese students - therefore we speak English everyday.
At my 1st semester, I had skirt pattern making, illustrator and photoshop tutorials. I made a 1st semester skirt project and in December we were on a fieldtrip to Hamburg, Germany, where we visited an Exit and Burberry shop - this ended up in an assignment based on the interior decorations, fashion and concept. At the 2nd semester we started making a mosaic project where we studied colours. Afterwards we started at our sketchbook project. I chose to work with "The Muhammed Crisis" - this ended up in my sketchbook called "Freedom of Expression", based on the differences in the Eastern and the Western world. The project was shown as an exhibition at Alsion, where our 3rd semester made their Special Exam. It was very successful. In the meantime we had dress construction (pattern making). At our 2nd semester we had to make our Compulsary Exam, which was an assignment based on the interior decorating company 'Designers Guild' by Tricia Guild. This ended up in a little collection called 'Designers Guild by Tina Martin'. The assignment included a design and management aspect, where I both had to make the collection, sew a finished style and furtermore make calculations of the garment. As an extra aspect of the whole assignment, I chose to expand the calculations of thé finished garment, by calculating the exact price, by contacting Prime Cargo, which is a company that deals with shipping of garments, and finishing them. ´Furthermore, I made questionnaires for buyers and retaile´rs in Sønderborg - I wanted to see if it was possible to include Designers Guild by Tina Martin in the assortment in Sønderborg. When finishing and having passed the exam, I've got the grade 10 - a total of management and design.
In my summer holiday of 2008, I have been working in Kvickly, Nordborg, as a bartender at Buddy Holly and in the design company UTO Uldahl, where I work as a stockholder assistant. For 10 days, I travelled to Italy, and 5 days in Paris, France.
I've just completed my Express jacket mission, which succeeded. It ended up in a nice presentation and now I'm studying logo-designs and furthermore making my newest achive - my homepage

Soon I start making a trousers project, which might be a group oriented project. In the beginning of November, I will travel for 8 days to New York with my education, where we will visit companies, scools, fashion shows and fabric stores. When returning from New York, I will make my Profile Exam in a cooperation with a company in Denmark.
At my 3rd semester I will make my Special Exam, which either deals with Fur, in coorporation with Kopenhagen Fur, Denmark, or with prints. We will visit Kopenhagen Fur, and we can apply for being admitted to the course at the school of Kopenhagen Fur, but only four students will have the opportunity. I don't know yet if I will apply for the fur or I will chose to study prints home at the school. This should end up in a Fashion Show at Alsion, Sønderborg, where all the fahsion companies from Denmark can come to see our work, which exist of a collection of three whole garments. At my 4th semester I will make my Final Exam, which is a coorporation between me and a fashion company, where I will have to make an entire collection, with all that belongs to a finished fashion collection, based on the company's philosophy - but still you have to fit the company's vision together with your own philosophy and design values.
